so, this is another t-shirt design i did for Nvsble down in Miami - his concept, my drawing. it was fun because its something i usually wouldn't draw!

besides that, i'm keeping myself busy with some fashion illustrations -which i will post once everything is finished! they're pretty intense...so wish me luck.

its a little old roman head from pasadena!

so i bought an excellent book at the library on friday - its on roman art and architecture and has numerous pictures! how lovely. and the best part was it was only $2. thats right, only TWO MEASLY DOLLARS!?!?! can you get a better deal than that, folks? I think not.

anyhow, this is inspired by pictures from that book.

Two other books i bought for cheap this weekend that I would recommend:
1) The Pushpin Graphic by Seymour Chwast
2) The Hasting Hours (small illuminated manuscript!)

so, i haven't updated since the summertime - but i figured since i just redesigned my website, this would be a good time to blog again.
this past weekend i watched Basquiat and became pretty fascinated by him. i love his work if I think about it in the context of design - but if I start thinking about his work in the way the fine art world does....then I start to have some problems.
the movie really painted a pretty grim picture of the fine art world - its really scary, if you ask me - the way they can tear a person apart.

anyhow - this poster is Basquiat inspired. its for an upcoming show at the ottobar. its not totally finalized, i may decide to make some changes later.

after a week without my wonderful mac - it is now finally back in the game and better than ever. this little drawing was inspired from a sentence in Vibe magazine. I will admit I don't actually know what the "stax" sound is....but this is basically an experiment in type and color.

a little tribute to the civil war for all you civil war veterans out there. and i know there are only FIVE MILLION BAGILLION!
arharharh. jk lol. but anyway, i was feeling inspired by some typography i had seen in the new york times magazine....and while looking through google images i came across many lovely pictures of the civil war...well not real photographs but you know what i mean.
so this came out.

so i found this guy who is opening a t shirt store in miami - and basically he's paying artists to do designs for him. the design idea and the text are his....i basically just made it!
not a subject i would typically draw, since i don't really surf...but it was fun.

the temple of doom

sooooo, a little boredom and inactivity at work today produced this. figured i'd might as well make something of worth. not sure what i think of it yet. i usually don't like using fonts, but why not give it a try once. certainly makes things go a lot faster.
if you're wondering who that general figure is in the background...i pulled his picture up from some files here and just decided to draw him. forgot his name, but he's up there. thought he'd be appropriate for the word "crusade".
but anyways.....i guess i'll leave now.

hello my little bumpkins. its been a while since i've updated...but since i had to stay up late to finish this poster anyway...i figured i'd update my blog.
the poster is for a concert at the stone pony (tommorow....i'm cutting it real short....but they said they'd print a couple copies and hang them up anyway). the other is something just for fun.
i feel like ever since i started working i've had no time for myself...just to draw for my own pleasure!

so, i've been looking around for places to do band posters for - and the stone pony seemed interested! so here's a poster i designed for a concert they have coming up!

i had the two words "battlestar galactica" stuck in my head for the past three days. so i decided to do a drawing based on that - even though i never have seen the show or really know what its about. and this lady is not from battlestar galactica SO DONT TRY TO MAKE ANY CONNECTIONS, ALRIGHT!?
its just me having fun. tell me what i need to fix. i know its kinda weird.
